ITR assists law firms and their clients in WTO dispute settlements before panels and the appellate body. We assist in the following:
- Analysis of government's trade remedies determinations: antidumping duties, subsidy rates, material injury.
- Measuring subsidy benefits: evaluating commercial market benchmarks, allocating subsidies to years and products, calculating subsidy rates.
- Assessment of claims of adverse effects: economic analysis of market performance and prices effects, financial analysis of corporate performance.
- Preparation of expert reports and testimony.
When appropriate, we supplement our in-house capability with members of the faculty of finance and economics of the Stern School of New York University with whom we have worked for over 20 years.
Among others, ITR has assisted in the two largest cases brought before the WTO, performing extensive and complex financial and economic analysis:
- EU and U.S. dispute concerning Large Civil Aircraft (Airbus and Boeing)
- Canada and U.S. dispute concerning the U.S. dumping and subsidy determinations on Canadian lumber
